Arizona at Los Angeles Week 17 Betting Pick & Prediction

NY Jets at Arizona Week 6 Betting Prediction

Written by on October 13, 2016

Consider this; in spite of being considered as hot preseason NFL picks to make the postseason in the 2016-17 season, the New York Jets and the Arizona Cardinals have combined for a measly three wins and seven freaking losses from their combined 10 games this season. Saying the season hasn’t gone according to plan for these two teams doesn’t even remotely come close to describing how these two disappointing franchises have been playing this season. Fortunately, one of these two double-digit win teams from 2015 will get a chance to increase its win tally when the Cardinals host the Jets in desert on Monday Night Football. NY Jets at Arizona Week 6 Betting Prediction & TV Info

When: Monday, October 17 at 8:30 PM ET Where: University of Phoenix Stadium TV: ESPN Radio: New York / Arizona Live Stream: NFL Live

Why Bet on the Jets?

With a pathetic 1-4 record from their five games, a long list of injuries and a struggling quarterback; nearly everything looks unfavorable for the Jets in this game. That being said, the Jets have had Arizona’s number, winning five straight vs. the Cards and going 3-2 ATS in the process. In addition, Arizona’s offensive line has been suspect when playing against talented defenses, and the Jets– even with their struggles– still qualify as a good defense when it comes to pressuring opposing quarterbacks (see the damage they did to Cincinnati’s Andy Dalton and Buffalo’s Tyrod Taylor for reference). Against Carson Palmer who’s coming off a concussion injury that kept him out of the team last week, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the physical Jets strive to hit the Zona QB as many times as possible and force him into mistakes. Meanwhile, Matt Forte and his fellow tailbacks should be more involved against Arizona’s leaky running defense that is allowing 118.20 YPG rushing, giving Ryan Fitzpatrick a bit of some break and offering the much-needed offensive spark that has recently lacked in NY’s offense.

Why Bet on the Cardinals?

The Cardinals (2-3) are yet to beat a ‘good” team this season (Yes, the Bucs and 49ers don’t count), so it’s hard to trust them this season. Fortunately for them, they will be getting another ‘bad’ team this week in the woeful Jets. Not only are Jets mired in a three-game skid, but the New Yorkers are bleeding with injuries, with the likes of CB Darrelle Revis, C Nick Mangold, LB David Harris and TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins not practicing as of Wednesday. Oh, and in case you have forgotten, New York’s most reliable receiver this season, Eric Decker, suffered a season-ending injury and was placed on IR this week; a factor that is expected to affect Fitzpatrick’s game that was already iffy even with Decker in the team. With all that, I doubt if the Cardinals will ever get a better opportunity than this to end their poor record against the Jets, especially now that Carson Palmer will be back in the fold at QB.

My Final Prediction and Pick

Yes, the Cardinals are in a good position to win this one in a big way, but I won’t be picking them. I won’t be picking the Jets, either. Thing is; this game is extremely important for both teams, so anything could happen. Fitzpatrick is playing for his jobs and the Cards are hell-bent on turning around their season real quick, meaning the game could be tighter than is depicted by the lines. Oh, and although Arizona has been playing quite well at home, the Jets have owned this series, so it’s hard to tell which history will be holding true on Monday Night. My preferred pick is therefore an UNDER in the total lines. The significance of this game is likely to bring with it a playoffs-like atmosphere where both team will be looking to play cautiously, which should encourage low scores. In addition, both starting QBs have been struggling—Fitzpatrick has a league-high 10 interceptions, 9 sacks and just 5 TDs while Palmer has 5 interceptions, 6 TDs and has been sacked 12 times. Add to the far-from- reliable play we’ve recently gotten from the running offenses in both teams, I see no better option than to recommend an UNDER bet for this MNF game. Writer’s NFL Pick: UNDER 46.5
