If you watched Wednesday night’s showdown between the New York Rangers and the New Jersey Devils, you might have thought you were watching a game from the 1970s as the opening faceoff was followed by a line brawl – all ten skaters getting into fights. Eight of the ten players were ejected for taking part in “secondary altercations,” and the most dramatic fight involved Rangers forward Matt Rempe and Devils’ forward Kurtis MacDermid, who were settling some business from March 11, when Rempe hit Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler with a high elbow, knocking him out of the game and picking up a four-game suspension.
